Bosphorus Gaz Corporation was established on 7 April 2003 in Istanbul to take part in the Turkish Natural Gas market which is currently preparing for liberalization and competition as a strong and reliable company.

Bosphorus Gaz Corporation participated in the tender for transferring Natural Gas Purchase and Sale Contracts to third parties whose announcement was published on November 2004 and which was conducted on 30 November 2005 after a number of delays. The bid for the imports and wholesaling of 750 million cubic meter natural gas was accepted.

In contract transfer tender which is one of the most important steps in liberalization of Turkish gas market, four companies were awarded. Bosphorus Gaz Corporation will be one of the first private natural gas importing companies in Turkey.
